Minutes of Parish Council Meeting held on Monday 6th February 2023

At Triton Cottage Sledmere

ACTIONS

 

 

  1. Minutes of Previous Meeting – The minutes of the previous meeting were read, approved and signed by the Chairman

 

  1. 2. Arising – covered in Clerks report

 

  1. 3. report – Nothing to report

 

  1. 4. Report:

Phone box – ongoing to be decorated once weather improves. Still no

response from school. Clerk confirmed that the box was covered by

insurance as long as the box was safe and both the Chair and Mr. Robson

reported that it was the door that needed a bit of adjusting .

Community Bus – the Clerk had been in touch with the Treasurer to establish

what the outcome of her approach to the Banking Ombudsman, but was

unable to ascertain if she had contacted them. The Clerk therefore contacted

them and had obtained the necessary forms to be completed which she was

unable to do as she had not been part of the Community bus committee

The forms had been forwarded to Mrs. Walker to complete

and she also agreed to send them to Mr. Chris Owen who had been

very helpful in the past JD

Planning – nothing to report.

Croome Road Repairs – the Clerk agreed to contact ERYC to ask about the

Road repair plan for the coming year JD

Light outside pub – Clerk again reported that she had again been onto the

the Council and that afternoon had received an email confirming that

someone would be attending to it that afternoon.

Salt bins – the Chair reported that he had only checked the one at Kirby Road

which was half full. Mr. Robson commented on the closeness of the bin in Croome

Road to the actual road.

Defibulator – the Chair confirmed that he had checked the one outside the

Estate Office and the pads were due for replacing in March and he agreed to

speak to Mr. Scully and ascertain where to purchase replacement pads JS

Trees – the Clerk had written to the Estate Office who had responded that

they had asked the Farm Manager and Head Gardner to attend to trimming

back the overhanging branches.

Road Repairs – Mrs. Jones Stork commented on the pot holes on the Sledmere

to Wetwang Road. Clerk agreed to report to ERYC JD

Wetwang sign – Clerk it was reported that the sign was now standing but only directing traffic to Driffield and York. Clerk agreed to again report to ERYC JD

Dumping of Newspapers – the Clerk asked the committee if any further

newspapers had been dumped and Mr. Robson reported that he hadn’t visited

all the areas but would keep a look out.

Walkabout report – The Clerk had received an email from ERYC saying that

they hadn’t received the report completed by Mr. Robson, The Clerk had

contacted Mr. Robson who had taken it in by hand and this was reported to

ERYC

Appointment of Councillors – the Clerk had printed off the Job Description

which had been displayed in the village noticeboards. Mrs. Jones-Stork

reported that her husband had suggested that he wished to join the

committee and a discussion took place and it was agreed that the necessary

forms would be forwarded to him to complete JD

 

5. Farmwatch the Clerk reported that she had that day forwarded Humberside Police Newsletter where there were several reports of hare course and machine

being stolen.

 

6. Accounts the Clerk reported that she had paid both the lighting agreement

and indemnity insurance and that before the next meeting the Clerks fee and

ground maintenance would need to be paid.

7. Any Other Business –

The Clerk reported that she had received information relating to a grant which

was available to the Parish Council in celebration of the King’s Coronation in May.

Applications were opened on 1st May and the amount available was the same as

for the Queen’s Jubilee, £500. A discussion took place as what would be

appropriate and it was generally agreed that a bench with a commemoration plaque would be an ideal choice as this would enable visitors and walkers to

the village the opportunity to take in the views of Sledmere. The Clerk agreed to

contact the Estate Office as any bench would be on Estate land and permission

  1. would need to be sort as to a suitable place.

Household Fund for Oil Customers – The Clerk reported that she had

received an email regarding this attaching two posters which were put

in the village noticeboard,

 

The Chair thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting

 

8. Date of Next Meeting – although it had been agreed that the next meeting

together with the AGM will be on the 8th May 2023. This was now a bank holiday

to celebrate the King’s Coronation so the meeting was now to be held on

15th May at 1800 followed by the AGM at 1845 at the Village Hall.
