A Memorial Service is being held on 19th July 2021 at 1400 for Lord Swinton at Sledmere
Parish Church. Lord Swinton had been Parish Clerk for ten years. Lady Pamela Swinton will
be sending out invitations.
1. Minutes of Previous Meeting the Minutes of the AGM meeting
dated 8th May 2019 were read a true record and signed by the Chairman.
2. Chairman’s Report. Nothing to report as to be discussed later
3. Accounts: The accounts for period ending 31st March 2021 had been distributed prior
to the meeting.
4. Eleonor Cross: The restoration work, due to be carried out has been abandoned due
to the Parish Council not being able to match fund any grants given.
5. Defibulator: The Defibulator, kindly donated by Mrs. Yvonne Sykes, had now been
installed outside the Estate Office and a plaque erected in memory of her husband.
Mr. Scurry had agreed to make the annual checks and fill in the necessary paperwork
and submit to ERYC.
6. Additional Litter Bin: ERYC had refused to provide a waste bin. However, the Parish
Council had made their own arrangements and Mr Peirson had agreed to empty the
bin on a regular basis.
7. Neighbourhood and Farm: Continued to be successfully run with prosecutions taking
place.
8. Trees: The overhang of the trees from the Estate onto the main road was still waiting
to be dealt with.
9. Food Parcels: Driffield Councillors had notified the Parish Council that food parcels
were waiting for collection at The Showground. These had been collected by the
Estate Office and were now in the office. Mr. Robson queried the criteria for being
given out these food parcels.
10. Phone Box: BT had made the decision to remove phone boxes which had not been
used for a year. According to their records only one call had been made from the box
in Sledmere and that was by the Engineer checking the line. The Committee had
taken the decision to adopt the phone box for £1.00. All the necessary paperwork
had been submitted and we were waiting on an update. The school had been
approached to ask for suggestions as to what to use the phone box for. No reply
received.
11. AOB: Road Works Mr. Robson reported on the general condition of the roads around
the village. A discussion took place regarding the state of the road and the problem
regarding off-roaders on green lanes.
