Minutes of Parish Council Meeting held on Thursday 22nd September 2022

At Triton Cottage Sledmere

Present: John Southwick - Chairman

The Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting in particular Annie Jones-Stork as a new member of Sledmere and Croome Parish Council.

 

A minutes silence was held in memory of our late Queen Elizabeth II

ACTIONS

 

 

  1. Minutes of Previous Meeting – The minutes of the previous meeting were read, approved and signed by the Chairman

 

  1. 2. Arising – None

 

  1. 3. report – The chair reported that some of the gutters had been cleaned

However, Mr. Robson reported that we needed to have rain to test their efficiency.

The Chair reported that the trees were still in need of cutting back. This was an on-

  1. going problem which the Clerk agreed to write to the Estate about.

The Jubilee tree was discussed and it appears to be dying at the top however,

Mr. Robson stated that it appeared to be ok at the bottom. The Chair reported

that the Estate had commented that in the event that it died they would replace it.

 

  1. 4. Report:

Mirror at end of Bridlington Road. After two years ERYC had got back and said it

was an issue for Humberside Police and not them. The Clerk reported that she had

contacted the police who stated that as long as the vehicle was parked thirty

metres from the junction there was nothing they could do. Mr. Treen had taken a

number of photos which had been forwarded to the police but they maintain no

laws were being broken.

Lighting Agreement with ERYC – a new lighting agreement had been received

from ERYC which amounted to £1066.68 which was an increase of just

under £400. She had contacted the council to ask if electricity costs increased

would this rise again. She was assured that not only would costs not increase but

in the event that they were reduced a refund would be given. The Clerk suggested

that when discussing the precept in December this would have to be taken into

account. It was also suggested that the indemnity insurance might rise as it had

been £131.60 for four years.

Phone box still nothing back from school. The Clerk suggested that she should

  1. again contact the Head regarding this.

Planning – nothing to report.

Community Bus the Clerk reported that nothing further had been heard back

from Chris Owen The Chair reported that he had recently seen Mrs. Walker and

she was due to contact the Halifax Building Society. The Clerk stated that this was

reported in the last minutes so nothing had happened. She agreed to contact

Chris Owen for an update JD

Queens Jubilee: The Clerk confirmed that the planting of the tree had taken place together with a number of other events. She confirmed that she had completed a report to ERYC and submitted photos of the event which were taken by Mrs. Pat Robson for which she would like to thank her for all her help. Mr. Treen confirmed that he had attempted to upload the photos onto the Parish Council website without success and was now receiving assistance on doing so. The Clerk reported that a payment of £102 had been returned to ERYC as the balance of the grant which was not used

Croome Road Repairs – nothing has happened Clerk to agreed to contact ERYC JD

Dropped Kerbs Cast legate – not been raised Clerk to contact ERYC JD

 

5. Farmwatch the Clerk reported that she had recently forwarded Humberside Police Newsletter which reported that a lot of farm equipment was being stolen. Mr. Treen reported that the theft from farm equipment was a major problem especially sat navs. He stated that they now had a vehicle which is dedicated to rural areas

 

6. Accounts – nothing to report apart from refund issued to ERYC

 

7. Any Other Business:

The signpost at Wetwang end was down and the Clerk agreed to contact ERYC JD

Bin on Bridlington Road – this continued to be emptied.

Dumping of newspapers – this continues to be an issue with parcels of newspapers being dumped on Bridlington Road, Malton Road and Garton – Wetwang Road. The Clerk agreed to contact Look North to see if anyone who watches the programme could shed some light on the issue which had been going on for a number of

  1. years.

Appointment of Councillors – Clerk had reported that she had spent quite

a bit of time speaking to Jon Whyley, Senior Committee Member at ERYC

and he was attempting to see if we could co-opt additional members to the

committee prior to April 2023
