Minutes of Parish Council Meeting held on 24th February 2020

Held at Triton Cottage Sledmere

Apologies: None ACTIONS

  1. Minutes of Previous Meeting: The minutes of the previous meeting were

read, approved and signed by the chairman.

  1. Matters Arising: The Chair reported that some of the potholes had been

completed however Mr. Fenwick reported that there were now additional

holes in particular just passed Croome Farm which Mr. Robson reported

were particularly dangerous. There was also one outside Keepers Hill

  1. the Clerk raid she would report these to ERYC. JD

It was reported that the gritting bin had been replaced

Precept has been done for 20/21 and notification received from ERYC.

Daily updates regarding farm watch Mr. Treen said that the office should be forwarding these to Mr. Fenwick. Mr. Fenwick agreed to speak to Mr.

Greenfield regarding this and Mr. Treen also agreed to forward texts to

  1. Fenwick. JK/CT
  1. Accounts: Reported that she had received a refund from HMRC and

a cheque for £60.00 was drawn up and signed and the Chair agreed

to hand this to Lord Swinton JD

  1. Clerks Report: Mr. Fenwick confirmed that he had given members

of staff the code to access the defibulator, as there were issues in ringing

the given number in order to access the equipment due to lack of

signal on any mobile network to call and get the code and he felt that

this was the right thing to do which the committee agreed. Mr. Fenwick

confirmed that training had taken place. The Clerk reported that

she had been contacted by the Yorkshire Wold Rangers walk

which a 40-mile walk around the Wolds. They had intended to get a

map to her by the meeting today, but it hadn’t arrived. They had

wanted to include parts of the estate at Sledmere as part of the

research was based on Angela Antrim’s writings about the Sledmere

The Town Clerk had been in touch with the Agent and unfortunately

not many public rights of way existed on the Estate. However,

Mr. Greenfield did indicate that they might in the future be prepared to

open up one-off guided tours of the estate.

The Clerk reported that Humberside Police were putting on a mature

driving Course and that details had been placed in the village notice board.

The Chair asked if we were any further forward regarding the trees on the

main road. Mr. Fenwick reported that nothing had been heard back.

The Clerk reported that she had received notification that there was a

community fund in the event that the village wanted to have a street

party to celebrate the 75 anniversary of the ending of the second world

war and she would need to let the council know by the end of the week.

It was decided that this would not be taken up. She also reported that she

had received information regarding the community bus. A notice had been

put up on the notice board and it was hoped that this would be used. Mr.

Robson asked if it was already up and running and the Chair confirmed

that this was the case. The company had also indicated that they were

prepared to arrange visits to museums or one off shopping trips if required.

She also reported that she had received information regarding bins

as Mr. Robson said that one was still required at Bridlington Road which

the council were not prepared to install. The Clerk said she would enquire

  1. to the cost of the bins. JD

The Clerk reported that there was a new group being set up regarding

Rural Wold Crime. A meeting was being held on 2nd March and it was

confirmed that Messrs. Treen, Pearson and Fenwick would attend. Clerk

to forward details to them and notify Victoria Fuller as to who was

  1. JD

Mr. Fenwick asked about the smart metre which was proposed at

  1. House and he confirmed that this would not be installed.

The Clerk reported that there were monies available for playground

equipment if required. Mr. Fenwick reported that the estate had recently

carried out work on the equipment in the ground of Sledmere House.

  1. Farm Watch Mr. Treen reported that he had walked down to Cherry

over the New Year and he was surprised as to the number of bottles and

cans together with takeaway boxes which were left on the grass verge.

He enquired if we could get the council to clean up the mess. Mr

Robson reported that he and his wife had carried out a clean-up before

and he also reported that newspapers were being dumped on the Malton

Road to ERYC. The Council had apparently endeavoured to find out who was dumping piles of newspapers but without success. The Clerk asked if we

  1. take photographs which she could then forward to the council. ALL

Mr. Treen said that there was money available in the Safe and Sound account

for vulnerable people which could be used for things such as locks on doors and

windows. The money was available for people over 60 or disabled either a

Homeowner, private sector tenant or housing association tenant and

must not have a bank balance of over £23250. Mr. Treen was to forward

details of email and Clerk to contact Mr Greenfield CT/JD

Mr. Treen reported that there was just over a month now if you

wished to opt out of being an organ donor. The procedure was

quick simple and it could be done online.

  2. Date of next meeting: The date of the next meeting was agreed for 4th

May at 1800 followed by the AGM at 1700. The meeting to be held at

The Village Hall Sledmere
