ACTIONS

1. Minutes of Previous Meeting: The minutes of the previous meeting were

read, approved and signed by the chairman.

2. Matters Arising: None

3. Clerks Report: The Clerk reported that it had been noted that the road repairs which had been undertaken to Harrisons Farm had been paid carried out and by Harrisons Farm. The Clerk reported that she had been

in contact with the Highways Department and they had reported that

no further roadworks this financial year would be carried out.

However, many members stated that yellow markings had been put

on Croome Road questioning as to whether maintenance work would

shortly be carried out. The Clerk reported that she felt the Wetwang

road was probably more important and Mr. Treen suggested that

some infill had occurred there. However, with the recent rain this would

probably now be washed out. The Clerk also said that Green Lane had

also had some work undertaken on it and was now closed to four wheel

drive vehicles until 1st November which was strange as the road closed

from 1st November to 30th April each year.

A report on the state of the footpaths since the road works had been received.

The Clerk had inspected them and reported to East Riding who in turn

arranged for someone to clean them. This took place two days later and

the Clerk contacted the council to thank them for their prompt action.

Distribution of Food Boxes -these had been distributed by Mr. Southwick

and the Clerk agreed to contact Mrs. Temple to let her know JD

Adoption of Phone Box - the Clerk reported that a contract had been received

from BT which had been signed, returned and acknowledged and the removal

of the equipment would be carried out soon. The Clerk had not heard back from

the school and agreed to formally write to them and asked if the children would

  1. like to participate with ideas for the use of the phone box.

Eleanor Cross – the Clerk brought the committee up to date with the latest on

the restoration work at Eleanor Cross. The Chair reported that he had spoken

to Nicholas and Christopher Sykes who appears were not aware of the issues

relating to funding.

The Chair brought them up to date and handed over the file to them whilst

the Clerk reported that she had been in touch with the War Memorials Trust, the

Architect and Elizabeth Hirst from the contractors who were conservationist

specialist. Peter Pace the Architect had retired but recommended someone else

and all this information had been forwarded onto Christopher Sykes. The WMT

informed the Clerk that the grant would be substantially less than before due to

the time of the previous application being the 100-year anniversary since the

ending of the first world war. They had also said that an application would need

to be in by 31st July. Again, all this information was passed onto the Sykes.

The Clerk queried whether the amount being held from the collection box could

be used towards restoration and Mr. Robson confirmed that this would be the case.

Tree Planting – an email had been received from ERYC offering a grant for trees

this was forwarded onto the Estate office, but nothing further had been received

back

Queens Honours – an email had been received asking if the Parish Council wanted

to recommend anyone in the village. No names had been put forward

Planning – an application had been received from Life Hill farm for caravan storage

Bus Shelters – the council had been in touch to ask if we would like a bus shelter. A

discussion took place but it was agreed that there was not an ideal place in the village

to put one.

Draft Planning Consultation – a discussion took place regarding this and there was

nothing in it which affected Sledmere

Wolds Ranger Walk – had been in touch to ask permission to walk over parts of

Sledmere. The Clerk had been in touch notifying them that these parts were public.

Community Bus – the Clerk reported that she had eventually received a reply from

the Treasurer who said that she had lost contact with members of Wolds Community

Bus Association and suggested that she contacts ERBC. The Chair reported that he

was in contact with a past Chairman, Brian Clark to see if he could shed any light on

the matter JD/JS

AGAR – The Clerk reported that the forms had been submitted based on the

Accounts approved at the last meeting

Steps – the Chair had reported the loose steps up onto the footpath by the pub.

The Clerk visited and took photos, and these had been forwarded to the council but

had heard nothing further and agreed to chase them JD

4. Farmwatch Mr. Treen reported that the service continues to prove money well spent and the police now had a four-wheel drive vehicle with someone to drive it. They also now had a dog section which was looking for stolen dogs

5. Accounts – nothing to report

6. Any Other Business Mr. Robson said that following on from the Farmwatch report

it was a shame that no further meeting had taken place with the police. The Clerk

reported that she had been studying the necessary section in the monthly newsletter

from Humberside Police but Sledmere did not appear. She agreed to contact

  1. A discussion took place on the North Yorkshire’s police use of WhatsApp and

how Humberside’s failure to look at the use of it. It was suggested now that there

was a new person at the top it should be revisited. Again, the Clerk agreed to contact

Highways and the Sergeant she had dealt with at North Yorkshire Police JD

  1. was reported that the drains were blocked and needed clearing. JD

Mr. Pierson suggested that a mirror would be extremely useful at the end of

Bridlington Road as drivers approaching the village from that direction found it

extremely difficult to access Main Road due to the parking on the yellow lines of a

resident.

The Clerk agreed to contact the Highways department JD

The Clerk enquired about the tree cutting back on Main Road. Mr. Fenwick said that

as far as he was aware the Estate had it in hand. The Chair reported that he had taken

some of the lower branches back.

It had been noted that both Mr. Southwick and Mr. Robson had undertaken some

remedial work on the Church, namely the gates, lamp post and church doors. The

Committee thanked them for their work

7. Date of Next Meeting - Monday 1st November 2021 at Triton Cottage at 1800
